Las Vegas resort fees are mandatory nightly charges added on top of the room rate at most hotels, and in 2026 they run from nothing to $55 + tax. Here is every fee in our hotel registry, checked in October 2026, plus what the fee covers, how the tax works and what actually gets it waived.

Quick answer

Most Las Vegas hotels charge a mandatory resort fee per room, per night: $45 to $55 plus tax at big Strip resorts and $30 to $50 at most downtown hotels, as of October 2026. The 13.38% Strip room tax applies to the fee too, so $55 becomes $62.36. A few hotels, such as Four Queens, charge none.

Las Vegas resort fees at a glance

On the Strip, nearly every big resort lands in one of five price points. Here’s what each costs once the 13.38% room tax is added:

Downtown is cheaper. Fees run from $30 at El Cortez to a reported $50 at Circa, with Four Queens at zero, and downtown hotels outside the gaming corridor should charge the City of Las Vegas room tax of 13%, which turns Golden Nugget’s $46 fee into $51.98. Off the Strip, Station Casinos quotes its fees with tax included: $50.85 a night at Red Rock and $51.30 at Green Valley Ranch.

Fees below are per room, per night, before tax unless marked, as checked in October 2026. Each table links its sources; where a hotel doesn’t publish its fee, the figure comes from a dated secondary source, noted below the table.

MGM Resorts’ tiers set the south Strip’s fees: $50 at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Signature and W Las Vegas, and $45 at the three value resorts. Four Seasons is the gap in the table. Las Vegas Advisor listed a $55 fee in June 2025, some 2026 blogs say it charges none, and the hotel’s own offer terms say rates “may or may not include” mandatory property fees, so check the booking total. Our MGM Grand review shows how the fee fits into a stay there.

The Venetian publishes its $55 fee on its own site, and Treasure Island lists its $49.95 fee alongside what it includes. MGM’s own site blocks automated checks, so its figures come from KSNV’s report on the Dec. 4, 2024 increase and the Review-Journal’s April 2026 fee rundown, and they match 2026 fee lists. Best Western Plus Casino Royale is the only hotel in our registry on the center Strip that charges no resort fee. See our Bellagio review for a $55-tier stay in detail.

Caesars runs two tiers, $54.95 and $49.95, both read from its booking engine in October 2026. A one-night Caesars Palace quote showed about $62.30 due at the property with tax. The Caesars Palace review and LINQ review cover one hotel from each tier.

Resorts World, SAHARA and The STRAT state their fees in their own FAQs. Wynn’s booking engine shows rates as including the resort fee but doesn’t state the amount; two 2026 guides list $55. Fontainebleau’s $55 and Circus Circus’ $45 also come from secondary guides, and one 2026 Circus Circus reviewer cited about $54 a night, so check your booking total.

Golden Nugget, Plaza, Downtown Grand and El Cortez publish their fees. Circa, The D and Golden Gate don’t, and Boyd Gaming’s sites for Fremont, California and Main Street Station couldn’t be checked, so those figures come from the Review-Journal and 2026 fee lists. El Cortez calls its charge an “amenities fee,” now $30 + tax, up from $26 in February 2025. Downtown Grand doesn’t charge Nevada residents, and Four Queens says it “never charges a Resort Fee.”

Two conflicts to know about. Westgate’s own site says $49.99 + tax, while one 2026 guide lists a tax-included total that implies about $51. Virgin Hotels lists what its fee includes but not the amount, which fee trackers put at about $50 + tax. Station Casinos’ figures already include tax, and Trump International charges $39 + tax per room, per day.

Watch for mandatory fees under other names, too. Palace Station and Sunset Station charge a “Hotel Services Fee” ($45.34 and $45.59 with tax), and South Point, despite appearing on some no-fee lists, charges $33 per room per night.

What the resort fee includes (and what it doesn’t)

Hotels bill the fee as an amenity package, and the packages vary widely. The biggest difference is parking: some fees include it, while MGM, Caesars and The Venetian charge for it on top.

Hotel or groupFee (+ tax)Parking included?Other inclusions
MGM Resorts$45–$55No ($20/day for guests)Wi-Fi, local and domestic long-distance calls, fitness center (18+), digital newspapers, boarding passes, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME

M Resort$39.99Yes, self and valetAirport shuttle (reservations required), Wi-Fi, fitness, bottled water

MGM’s list is the one KSNV reported in January 2024 for all of the company’s Las Vegas resorts; MGM’s reservation terms for MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay, updated Dec. 4, 2024, show the same items, and New York-New York adds 2-for-1 Big Apple Coaster passes. Caesars’ inclusions are the thinnest of the big operators: Wi-Fi for two devices, the gym and local calls.

What the fee doesn’t cover matters as much. Parking is extra at MGM resorts, Caesars resorts and The Venetian, and cabanas, daybeds and spa treatments are extra at every resort above. The most a fee gets you there is a discount, such as Resorts World’s 5% to 15% off or El Cortez’s $10 off some massages.

The real nightly cost: rate + resort fee + tax

Clark County treats the resort fee as part of the room rent, so the room tax applies to both. The formula is (room rate + resort fee) × 1.1338 × nights on the Strip, or × 1.13 downtown. Here’s a three-night example at the LVCVA’s 2025 average Strip rate with a $55 fee:

LinePer nightThree nights
Room rate (2025 Strip average)$197.45$592.35
Resort fee$55.00$165.00
Room tax at 13.38%$33.78$101.33
Total$286.23$858.68

The fee and the tax on it add $62.36 a night, nearly a third more than the average room rate alone. Drive, and parking adds $20 a day at MGM resorts and The Venetian. Downtown, the 2025 average rate of $98.75 plus a $39 fee comes to $155.66 a night at the 13% city rate. Our Las Vegas trip cost guide builds full budgets from these numbers.

How booking sites show resort fees: the FTC rule

Since May 12, 2025, the FTC’s Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees (16 C.F.R. Part 464) has required hotels and third-party booking sites to show the total price, including all mandatory fees, whenever they display a price. The key points:

  • Mandatory fees such as resort fees must be in the total, and the total must be more prominent than other pricing information.
  • Taxes and government charges can be left out of the advertised total but must be disclosed before you pay.
  • Itemizing is allowed, as long as it doesn’t overshadow the total.
  • The rule doesn’t ban or cap resort fees. It bans hiding them.

The FTC’s own example is a resort charging $199 a night plus a mandatory $39 daily resort fee: the $39 has to be in the total price. As the Nevada Independent put it in January 2026, “Hidden resort fees are illegal in Nevada.”

On Booking.com and other sites, open the price breakdown before you pay. It shows whether the fee is part of what you prepay or collected by the hotel. Caesars’ own booking engine, for example, lists the resort fee and its tax as due at the property, while Wynn’s shows rates as “Includes Resort Fee / Excludes taxes.”

Las Vegas hotel tax: 13.38% on the Strip, and it applies to the fee

The 13.38% rate is Clark County’s combined room tax for lodging in the Primary Gaming Corridor and Stadium District, which covers the Strip. It breaks down as 5.5% for the LVCVA, 2% for the school district, 1% for local transportation, 1% for the county general fund, 3% for state education and 0.88% for the stadium. Other rates apply elsewhere in the county: 13% for resort hotels in the Stadium District but outside the corridor, and 12.5% outside both.

The City of Las Vegas charges 13.38% in its small slice of the corridor and 13% outside it, which should cover downtown; confirm with your hotel. Both governments tax the resort fee: Clark County classifies it as rent, and the city taxes a room “and all related charges.”

Can you refuse or avoid the resort fee?

Refusing at checkout doesn’t work

The fee is part of the price you accept when you book. Under the FTC rule, a fee that’s billed by default and dropped only if a guest complains still counts as mandatory, so treat “just ask the front desk to remove it” as a myth, not a plan.

What actually works

  1. Loyalty status. MGM’s waiver terms drop the fee for MGM Rewards Gold members and above on up to two direct bookings per trip. At Caesars, the Caesars Palace, Harrah’s, Planet Hollywood and Vanderpump Hotel FAQs say Diamond and Seven Stars members don’t pay it, but The LINQ’s FAQ says the fee applies regardless of tier, so confirm before you count on it.
  2. No-fee rates. SAHARA’s “All-In” rate drops the resort fee and runs through July 31, 2027, and Westgate, Circus Circus and Resorts World also advertise no-resort-fee offers. Treasure Island waives the fee on a members-only TV-ad special and for qualified Treasury Players Club bookings. Read the terms: Westgate’s deal, for one, is a limited-time promotion.
  3. Nevada ID. Downtown Grand doesn’t charge Nevada residents, Durango’s Nevada Locals StaCation waives the fee, and Fontainebleau waives it for Nevada residents with Fontainebleau Rewards.
  4. A fee that includes parking. If you’re driving, Wynn’s $55 fee covers self-parking, while MGM Grand’s $50 fee plus $20 parking comes to $70 a day before tax. Treasure Island, SAHARA, Golden Nugget, Plaza, Downtown Grand and El Cortez also fold parking into the fee. Compare hotel by hotel in our Las Vegas parking fees guide.
  5. A hotel without a fee. See below, and weigh fee and rate together with our guide to cheap Las Vegas hotels.

Which Las Vegas hotels have no resort fee?

Only a handful in our registry: Four Queens and Hotel Apache at Binion’s (reported) downtown, Best Western Plus Casino Royale on the center Strip, and the non-gaming Ahern Hotel and The Carriage House off the Strip. Be wary of lists that include South Point, which charges $33, or The Orleans, where Las Vegas Advisor lists $40.99. Our full guide to Las Vegas hotels without resort fees compares them.

FAQ

Are resort fees per room or per person?

Per room. Hotels charge one resort fee per room per night, however many guests share it; Trump International’s FAQ, for instance, specifies “per room, per day,” and South Point “per room per night.” Extra-person fees are separate, such as MGM Grand’s $40 + tax for each guest beyond two.

Is the resort fee charged per night or per stay?

Per night. The fee applies to every night you stay, so a $55 fee on a three-night trip comes to $165 before tax, or $187.08 with the Strip’s 13.38% tax. Some hotels word it as a daily charge, such as El Cortez’s amenities fee and Trump’s fee, which works out the same for an overnight stay.

Can you refuse to pay a resort fee in Vegas?

Not in any reliable way. The fee is mandatory and part of the price you accept at booking, and under the FTC rule a fee billed by default and removed only if a guest objects still counts as mandatory. The legitimate ways around it are loyalty tiers, Nevada-resident offers, no-fee rates and hotels that don’t charge one.

Does Booking.com include resort fees for Las Vegas hotels?

It should show them in the total. Since May 12, 2025, the FTC has required hotels and third-party booking sites to include mandatory fees such as resort fees in the total price they display; taxes can be listed separately. Check the price breakdown to see whether the fee is prepaid or collected by the hotel.

Yes, as long as they’re disclosed up front. The FTC’s fee rule doesn’t ban resort fees or limit their size; it requires the total price you’re shown to include them. As the Nevada Independent put it in January 2026, “Hidden resort fees are illegal in Nevada.”

Do all Las Vegas hotels charge resort fees?

No, but most do. In our registry, five hotels charge none or have none reported: Four Queens, Hotel Apache, Best Western Plus Casino Royale, Ahern Hotel and The Carriage House. Downtown Grand also waives its fee for Nevada residents. See the full list of hotels without resort fees.
