Luxor is MGM Resorts’ 30-story pyramid on the south Strip, with 4,397 rooms split between the pyramid and two hotel towers, a free tram to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay, Blue Man Group and three museum-style exhibitions. The short answer from this Luxor Las Vegas review: it’s a good-value base for budget travelers and Allegiant Stadium fans, as long as you can live with rooms some guests call dated. Plan on a resort fee of $45 per night plus tax (as of October 2026), $5 less than at Mandalay Bay next door.

Quick Verdict

Book Luxor if you want a Strip landmark at a budget price level, a walk of under half a mile to Allegiant Stadium and free tram rides to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. Pick a Tower room for a little more space or a Pyramid room for the slanted windows. Skip it if you want modern rooms, a center-Strip location or a big pool scene; Mandalay Bay’s 11-acre beach is next door.

Location

Luxor sits at 3900 Las Vegas Blvd. South, between Excalibur and Mandalay Bay at the south end of the Strip. A free tram links all three, and Luxor’s own page lists it running daily from 10 a.m. to midnight. You can also walk to Mandalay Bay indoors through The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, the shopping skybridge between the two resorts.

Allegiant Stadium is less than half a mile away on foot, according to MGM’s Fan District page; our guide to hotels near Allegiant Stadium compares the closest options. For T-Mobile Arena, MGM estimates 15 to 20 minutes (0.8 mile), while the arena’s own site says 13 minutes via the Excalibur bridge and New York-New York.

The nearest Monorail station is at MGM Grand. Rideshare drop-off is at the main entrance and pickup at the North Entrance off Reno Avenue, and taxis wait at the main entrance around the clock. Luxor is in the south-Strip taxi zone, a $22.25 flat fare from the airport (as of October 2026), plus $3 by card.

Rooms: Pyramid vs Tower

Luxor opened in October 1993. Its pyramid rooms line the building’s sloping walls, and the rest are in two towers. MGM’s official sizes:

Room typeBuildingSizeGood to know
Pyramid King / Two Queen (incl. Premier)Pyramid420 sq ftSlanted pyramid windows
Pyramid Corner SuitePyramid590 sq ftSitting room and soaking tub
Pyramid Premier Corner Suite Big / Elite SuitePyramid850 / 1,200 sq ftThe pyramid’s largest options
Tower Premier King / Two Queen; Tower Elite KingTower449 / 450 sq ftStandard tower rooms
Tower One Bedroom SuiteTower780 sq ftKing or two queens
Tower Elite One / Two Bedroom SuiteTower1,050 / 1,650 sq ftLarger suites
Tower Penthouse SuitesTower3,000 / 3,600 sq ftOne or two bedrooms

Book a Pyramid room for the experience; guests single out the slanted-window rooms and the Egyptian theme. The trade-offs are a smaller footprint (420 square feet) and complaints that some pyramid rooms feel dated and stuffy, with windows that don’t open.

Book a Tower room if a few more square feet matter more than novelty: Tower Premier rooms measure 449 square feet, and a one-bedroom suite jumps to 780. We couldn’t verify a recent room renovation in either building, so read recent reviews of the exact room type before you choose.

For more room in the pyramid, the 590-square-foot Corner Suite adds a sitting room and a soaking tub. We couldn’t confirm in-room refrigerators, so call the hotel (702-262-4000) if you need one for medication or baby food. You must be 21 to check in, extra occupants cost $35, and smoking in a room brings a $300 cleaning fee ($500 in suites).

Pools

The Oasis Pool has two large pools, the North Pool (capacity 577) and the South Pool (capacity 538), with 19 cabanas (TV, fridge and snacks included), daybeds and rental chair sets, and drinks ordered by QR code. MGM replaced the south pool with a new one and added deck space in a 2025–26 renovation, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Hours are seasonal. In late September 2026, the Luxor pool page listed 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, while the FAQ said 7 p.m., so check before a winter trip. Outside food and drink, coolers, glass, speakers and personal umbrellas aren’t allowed. Temptation Sundays, the 21+ LGBTQ+ pool party, is on hiatus for 2026 because of the construction and slated to return in 2027.

Luxor’s pool page describes two pools, not a wave pool or lazy river; for those, book Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand.

Restaurants and bars

  • TENDER steakhouse + lounge: steaks and seafood, dinner Wednesday to Sunday.
  • Diablo’s Cantina: Mexican food and drinks.
  • Public House: an American sports pub.
  • Pyramid Cafe: breakfast and lunch; guests mention its breakfasts and the food court favorably.

The Buffet at Luxor appears to have closed: its official page has redirected to the dining directory since July 2025. For more choice, The Shoppes at Mandalay Place on the walk to Mandalay Bay add Hussong’s Cantina, Wahlburgers and Ri Ra Irish Pub.

Casino and entertainment

The casino covers about 104,000 square feet by MGM’s annual-report count (Luxor’s site says 120,000), with a BetMGM Sportsbook. It isn’t a smoke-free casino.

Entertainment leans toward shows and exhibitions, as listed by Luxor in late September 2026:

  • Blue Man Group: nightly at 5 and 8 p.m.; children 4 and up need a ticket, and under-18s must be with an adult.
  • Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition and Bodies… The Exhibition: sold separately or as a combo; Titanic adult tickets were $43 at last check.
  • Discovering King Tut’s Tomb: an immersive replica of the tomb, open daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; adults $39, children 4 to 12 $26.
  • HyperX Arena Las Vegas: a 30,000-square-foot esports arena, free to enter and pay to play, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • PLAY Playground: interactive games and a bar, open to ages 13 and up until 7 p.m. and 21+ after.
  • FANTASY: an adult revue for ages 18 and up.

Carrot Top’s comedy residency (16+) was paused in September 2026. Luxor’s site listed shows resuming Oct. 19, but the Review-Journal reported that his return was uncertain, so confirm before buying tickets.

Amenities

  • Nurture Spa & Salon: for guests 18+, open Monday and Thursday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Fitness center: open 24 hours with your room key.
  • Dogs: dog-friendly rooms and an outdoor dog park; up to two dogs (combined under 100 pounds; no cats) at $50 per dog per night plus tax, $100 in suites.
  • Closed for now: the concierge desk and the Avis rental desk, according to Luxor’s FAQ.

Resort fee and parking

The resort fee is $45 per night plus tax (as of October 2026), about $51.02 with tax according to the Review-Journal, which reported the increase from $37 on Dec. 4, 2024. It covers in-room Wi-Fi; local, domestic long-distance and toll-free calls; boarding-pass printing; digital newspapers and magazines; and fitness center access for guests 18+. MGM Rewards Gold members and above can have it waived.

Registered guests pay $20 a day to self-park, and valet is $40 per 24 hours (as of October 2026). Visitors pay $20 Monday through Thursday and $25 Friday through Sunday. Self-parking is free for MGM Rewards Pearl members and above and MGM Rewards Mastercard holders, valet is free from Gold up, and EV charging is valet-only, at $15 per vehicle per stay for registered guests. The garage clearance is 7 feet 9 inches, and guests mention long walks from the garage to the front desk and elevators.

If you’re driving in for a game, note that MGM sells Prepaid Reserved Event Parking for some Allegiant Stadium events, but the garages it lists are at Mandalay Bay, W Las Vegas and Excalibur. Check current rates on MGM’s parking page, and see our guides to Las Vegas resort fees and hotel parking fees.

Is Luxor closing?

No. As of October 2026, Luxor is open and MGM Resorts operates it as usual. MGM’s annual report for 2025, filed in February 2026, lists its 4,397 rooms, and Luxor’s official site listed rooms, shows and pool hours in late September and early October 2026. The company has also been investing in the property: the Review-Journal reported the south-pool replacement, which began in December 2025, and the Temptation Sundays pool party is slated to return in 2027. Nothing in MGM’s official pages or the local news coverage we reviewed points to a closure.

Luxor vs Excalibur

The free tram links these two MGM neighbors, and both sit at the budget end of the Strip.

Choose Luxor for more space, adult-leaning entertainment and the walk to Allegiant Stadium. Its standard rooms are 68 to 97 square feet larger than Excalibur’s.

Choose Excalibur for younger kids. The Fun Dungeon arcade has more than 200 games, the pool has a water slide, Tournament of Kings is a medieval jousting dinner show, and The Mac King Comedy Magic Show plays afternoons for ages 5 and up. MGM markets Excalibur’s Resort Tower rooms as newly renovated, but guests mention thin walls and a $25-a-day refrigerator rental.

Both home pages advertise an All-Inclusive Experience, which the Review-Journal described in April 2026 as a two-night package bundling the room, resort fee, meals, a show and parking. Price it if you’d eat on property anyway.

Luxor vs Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay, next door by tram or the indoor walkway, is the upgrade: 550-square-foot standard rooms, the 11-acre Mandalay Bay Beach with a wave pool and lazy river, Shark Reef Aquarium and a deeper restaurant list, for a $50 resort fee. Stay at Luxor and walk over for dinner if the budget is tight.

Is Luxor worth it?

Yes, at the right price. Luxor is worth booking for a south-Strip base below the $50 fee tier, a walk to Allegiant Stadium and a room inside the pyramid. It’s less convincing if you’ll spend most of your time on the center Strip or if room condition matters more than value.

FAQ

Is Luxor a good hotel?

Yes, for budget-minded travelers who value location and theme over polish. Guests praise the pyramid rooms, the value and the tram to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay, and MGM puts Allegiant Stadium less than half a mile away. Common complaints are dated rooms, long walks from the garage and the resort fee.

Should I book a Pyramid or Tower room at Luxor?

Book a Pyramid room for the slanted windows and the novelty, and a Tower room for more space: standard Tower rooms measure 449 square feet against 420 in the pyramid. Guests describe some pyramid rooms as dated and stuffy, so read recent reviews of the exact room type before booking.

How much is the Luxor resort fee?

The resort fee is $45 per night plus tax (as of October 2026), about $51.02 with tax according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal; it rose from $37 on Dec. 4, 2024. It covers Wi-Fi, calls and fitness center access, among other things, and MGM Rewards Gold members and above can have it waived.

How much is parking at Luxor for hotel guests?

Self-parking is $20 a day for registered guests, and valet is $40 per 24 hours (as of October 2026). Self-parking is free for MGM Rewards Pearl members and above and MGM Rewards Mastercard holders. Visitors pay $20 Monday through Thursday and $25 Friday through Sunday.

Can you walk from Luxor to Allegiant Stadium?

Yes. MGM’s Fan District page puts Luxor less than half a mile from Allegiant Stadium on foot, along with Mandalay Bay and W Las Vegas. We found no published walking time, so leave a buffer for crowds and security on game day. Drivers should look at MGM’s prepaid event parking at Mandalay Bay, W Las Vegas or Excalibur.

Is the Luxor pool open year-round?

Don’t count on it in winter: Luxor’s pool hours are seasonal. In late September 2026, its pool page listed 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Check the current schedule before a cold-weather trip, and don’t expect Temptation Sundays until its planned 2027 return.
