The usual Las Vegas hotel check-in age is 21, and almost every casino resort on the Strip and downtown sticks to it. Two hotels officially allow 18, two more publish conflicting policies, and two downtown hotels don’t admit anyone under 21 at all. Here is every policy we could verify, hotel by hotel, as of October 2026.
Quick answer
Most Las Vegas hotels require the guest checking in to be 21, including every MGM Resorts hotel on the Strip and Caesars Palace. Westgate and Golden Nugget officially allow check-in at 18. Flamingo and SAHARA publish conflicting rules, so confirm before booking. Circa and El Cortez are adults-only: nobody under 21 is allowed on property.
Las Vegas hotels that allow 18-year-olds to check in (verified October 2026):
- Westgate: 18, in its official General Policies.
- Golden Nugget: 18, in its official FAQ.
- Conflicting, so confirm in writing: Flamingo (its FAQ says 18, Caesars’ property data says 21) and SAHARA (its hotel terms allow under-21s only with a parent or guardian; its FAQ says 21).
- Adults-only, nobody under 21 on property: Circa and El Cortez.
Older lists that put MGM Grand or the former Delano (now W Las Vegas) among the 18+ hotels are out of date: both require 21 today. We read each hotel’s own terms, FAQ or booking engine; how we check facts explains the method.
What changed in 2026
- May 22, 2026: The Cromwell reopened as The Vanderpump Hotel, and its FAQ says guests must be 21+ to check in.
- Sept. 22, 2026: Caesars stockholders approved the sale to Fertitta Entertainment; regulators still have to sign off, and policies could change after closing.
- October 2026: SAHARA’s FAQ and hotel terms still disagree on under-21 guests, and Flamingo’s FAQ still says 18 while Caesars’ data says 21.
How old do you have to be to check in to a Las Vegas hotel?
Twenty-one, at nearly every hotel in town. All 13 MGM Resorts hotels on the Strip use the same sentence in their reservation terms: “Guests must be at least 21 years of age in order to check into the hotel.” Caesars Entertainment lists 21 across its Strip hotels, and The Venetian, Wynn, Resorts World, Fontainebleau and The STRAT all state 21 on their own sites.
The rule applies to the primary guest: the person whose name is on the reservation and who checks in. Excalibur’s FAQ ties it to gambling (“As Excalibur is a gaming establishment, you must be minimum 21 years of age to check-in to a guest room”), yet Golden Nugget and Westgate both have casinos and still allow 18.
Las Vegas hotel check-in age by hotel (as of October 2026)
These are the ages for 54 hotels, taken from each hotel’s or operator’s own terms, FAQ or booking engine in October 2026. Rows marked “(per Booking.com)” come from the house rules a hotel supplies to Booking.com because its own site states no age; confirm those before you book.

Which Las Vegas hotels let 18-year-olds check in?
Officially, two. Among the 59 hotels in our research, only Westgate and Golden Nugget set the minimum at 18 with no conflicting statement elsewhere.
- Westgate Las Vegas lists “Minimum check-in age: 18” in its General Policies. It sits one block off the Strip, next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, with its own Monorail station. Expect a $49.99-plus-tax nightly resort fee and a $50-a-day credit card deposit (as of October 2026).
- Golden Nugget‘s FAQ says “the minimum age requirement to check-in to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas is 18 years old.” Kids are welcome in the hotel, pool and restaurants on Fremont Street, and hotel guests park free, but under-21s can’t go on the casino floor or into The Hideout pool area. It’s also the 18+ option for festival weekends: EDC is 18+, and our EDC hotels guide shows which shuttle stop is closest.

Golden Nugget Las Vegas

- The Tank pool

Two more hotels say 18 in one place and 21 in another:
- Flamingo: its FAQ says “Hotel check-in requires the primary guest to be 18 or older,” but Caesars’ property data for the same hotel says “Minimum check-in age is 21.” Get Flamingo’s confirmation in writing before you book; the casino, bars and GO Pool are 21+ regardless. Our Flamingo Las Vegas review covers the rest.
- SAHARA: its hotel terms say “Guests under 21 years old must be accompanied by a parent or official guardian to check in,” yet its FAQ requires you to be 21, with valid government ID and a major credit card, to reserve and check in. Don’t count on the exception without written confirmation.
Skipping the casino isn’t a workaround: SpringHill Suites and Embassy Suites near the Convention Center and Hampton Inn & Suites by the airport all list 21 as well. For more value picks around Fremont Street, see our guide to downtown Las Vegas hotels.
MGM and Caesars check-in age rules
MGM Resorts makes no exceptions: none of its 13 Strip hotels’ terms offers a parent or guardian exception. MGM Grand’s FAQ repeats the rule (“Guests must be at least 21 years of age to check in at MGM Grand”), and Park MGM’s adds that you need a major credit card to reserve. Our MGM Grand review covers that hotel’s other fine print.
Caesars Entertainment also lands on 21. Its property data lists 21 for Caesars Palace, Nobu and Paris, and the Planet Hollywood and Vanderpump Hotel FAQs require a 21-plus primary guest. The differences are in who else may stay (Harrah’s, Horseshoe and The LINQ, below) and at Flamingo, whose FAQ says 18. Caesars also agreed on May 28, 2026, to be acquired by Fertitta Entertainment; stockholders approved the deal on Sept. 22, 2026, regulatory approvals were still pending in October 2026, and policies may change once it closes.
Under 21 with a parent or older friend: who has to check in
If someone in your group is under 21, book the room in the name of an adult 21 or older who checks in and stays. These hotels put that arrangement in writing:
- Harrah’s: “guests under 21 may stay when accompanied by a parent or guardian who is the primary guest on the reservation.”
- Horseshoe and The LINQ: “Hotel check-in requires at least one guest to be 21 or older.”
- Rio: “An adult 21 years of age or older must be present to check-in.”
- Fontainebleau: “All children must be accompanied by an adult of 21 years of age or older in the same room,” and kids 17 and under stay free with existing bedding.
- The D and Golden Gate: 21 to check in, but under-21 hotel guests can use the D Pool.
At Palms, only the guest assigned to a room may check in, with a valid state or federal photo ID. At M Resort, other guests on the reservation can’t check in until the person who booked has. And because MGM’s rule covers whoever checks in, a parent can’t book an MGM room for an 18-year-old to check into alone. Families with teens should start with our guide to family hotels in Las Vegas.
Adults-only hotels where nobody under 21 can stay

Circa calls itself “a 21+ property”: all guests must be at least 21 to enter, including hotel guests, casino patrons and visitors to its restaurants and bars; our Circa review covers the rest of the resort. El Cortez requires everyone on the property to be 21 or older with a valid, government-issued ID showing date of birth. Neither works if anyone in your group is younger, even for dinner, and the same goes for most club-and-dayclub group trips: every hotel in our bachelor and bachelorette party hotels guide requires the person checking in to be 21. On the Strip, The Vanderpump Hotel requires the primary guest to be 21. For a grown-up crowd by choice, our guide to romantic hotels in Las Vegas covers the adults-only options.
How to book a room when someone in your group is under 21
- Match the name, ID and card. The reservation, photo ID and payment card should belong to the 21-plus guest who checks in. MGM requires the card used to book at registration, and The STRAT wants the deposit card to match your ID.
- Read the age line before you pay. Booking.com shows the minimum check-in age in each listing’s house rules, which the hotel supplies; Golden Nugget’s says 18. If a listing and the hotel’s own site disagree, go by the hotel and get its answer in writing. Our guide to the best way to book Las Vegas hotels compares booking direct with Booking.com.
- Plan the arrival. Standard check-in is mid-afternoon at most resorts, so the 21-plus guest needs to be there when the room is ready; our guide to early check-in and luggage storage covers fees and bag drops.
- Leave room on the card. Whoever checks in usually gets an incidental hold, plus the resort fee if it wasn’t prepaid; see our guides to Las Vegas hotel deposits and resort fees. For lower rates once a 21-plus adult is booking, start with our cheap hotels in Las Vegas list.
What under-21s can and can’t do in Las Vegas
- Gamble: no. Nevada law (NRS 463.350) bars anyone under 21 from playing or betting on any game, slot machine, race book or sports pool, and from loitering where gaming takes place. Keep moving when your route crosses a casino floor; Golden Nugget keeps under-21s off its floor entirely.
- Drink: no. Under NRS 202.020, buying or drinking alcohol under 21 in a bar, resort or anywhere liquor is sold, or carrying it in public, is a misdemeanor.

- Party pools: mostly no. Flamingo’s GO Pool, Influence at The LINQ, ARIA’s LIQUID Pool Lounge, Mandalay Bay’s Moorea Beach Club and Tailgate Beach Club, Caesars Palace’s Venus Pool, Resorts World’s Athena Infinity Ultra Pool, TAO Beach Dayclub at The Venetian and Circa’s Stadium Swim are all 21+. Flamingo’s Family Pool (for hotel guests), Golden Nugget’s pool and the D Pool are open to under-21 guests.
- Spas and many shows: yes, from 18. Spa Mandalay, The Spa at Wynn and Caesars Palace’s QUA Baths & Spa admit guests 18 and up, as do Magic Mike Live at SAHARA, Thunder From Down Under at Excalibur, FANTASY at Luxor and Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand.
- Skip casino floors altogether: stay at a non-gaming, smoke-free hotel such as Vdara, The Signature at MGM Grand, W Las Vegas or Trump International, with a 21-plus adult checking in. Our non-smoking hotels guide lists more.
Is there a curfew for under-21s in Las Vegas?
The curfews we could confirm for 2026 target minors:
- The Strip (unincorporated Clark County): the county code sets curfew for under-18s at 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and midnight to 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday (midnight every night during school holidays and summer break). A separate rule keeps unaccompanied under-18s off Las Vegas Boulevard South between Sahara Avenue and Sunset Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and legal holidays. Minors with a parent, or with an adult over 21 the parent has approved, are exempt. Per Clark County’s code and its juvenile justice page, checked October 2026; confirm with your hotel.
- Fremont Street Entertainment District (bounded by Main Street, Stewart Avenue, Maryland Parkway and Bridger Avenue): no one under 18 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and legal holidays without a parent or guardian.
- City of Las Vegas: midnight to 5 a.m. for minors during summer and school holidays.
- First Friday: police enforce a 9 p.m.-to-5 a.m. curfew for unaccompanied minors in the Arts District and at the Fremont Street Experience, with ID checks at casino properties.

Two rules reach 18- to 20-year-olds downtown. Downtown Container Park turns 21+ after 9 p.m., and in 2022 the Fremont Street Experience barred unaccompanied under-21s after 8 p.m. during weekend special events; whether that still applies wasn’t confirmed, so check before a weekend night there.
Is it worth going to Vegas under 21?
It can be. Build the trip around what’s open to you: the free Fountains of Bellagio and Bellagio Conservatory, the free Fremont Street canopy shows on the hour from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., all-ages pools and 18+ shows. Book Westgate or Golden Nugget, or travel with a 21-plus adult who checks in. If nightlife is the point, wait until you’re 21. Our first time in Las Vegas guide covers the rest of the planning.
FAQ
Can you check into a hotel at 18 in Las Vegas?
Yes, at Westgate and Golden Nugget, whose official policies set the minimum at 18. Flamingo’s FAQ also says 18 but Caesars’ property data says 21, and SAHARA’s terms and FAQ disagree on under-21s with a parent, so get written confirmation from either. Nearly every other casino resort requires 21.
What is the MGM Grand minimum check-in age?
- MGM Grand’s reservation terms and FAQ both say guests must be at least 21 to check in, with no parent or guardian exception. The same rule applies at The Signature and every other MGM Resorts hotel on the Strip, so bring photo ID and the card you booked with.
What is the check-in age at Caesars Palace?
- Caesars’ property data for Caesars Palace lists a minimum check-in age of 21, and the resort’s FAQ says the primary guest must show a valid photo ID. Nobu Hotel, inside Caesars Palace, has the same minimum.
Can my parents book a Las Vegas hotel room for me if I’m under 21?
Only if a 21-plus adult checks in. Circus Circus requires the reservation to be “in the name of the guest checking in who must be at least 21 years of age,” and Harrah’s lets under-21s stay only with a parent or guardian who is the primary guest. Westgate and Golden Nugget let 18-year-olds check in themselves.
What do you need to check in to a Las Vegas hotel?
Government-issued photo ID and the card you booked with. Resorts World and The STRAT ask for government ID, El Cortez wants one showing your date of birth, and MGM requires the card used to book at registration. Expect an incidental hold on that card too.
Policies change, so recheck the hotel’s own page before you book, especially Flamingo and SAHARA. To choose an area, see our guide to where to stay in Las Vegas.
Prices vary according to travel dates and availability.
