New York-New York is the budget pick when your trip revolves around T-Mobile Arena, or when you want a roller coaster, an arcade and dueling pianos under one roof. The honest take from this New York-New York Las Vegas review: it’s a fun, well-placed base for arena-goers, teens and travelers watching their budget, but standard Soho rooms are 350 square feet, there’s no spa or coffee maker, and the $45 nightly resort fee plus tax and $20 guest self-parking (as of October 2026) add up.
Quick Verdict
Book New York-New York to walk to T-Mobile Arena in under 5 minutes (per MGM), ride The Big Apple Coaster on the resort fee’s 2-for-1 passes and pay a lower fee than MGM Grand or Park MGM. Upgrade to a 450-square-foot Soho Premier room if you want a fridge and more space. Skip it if you want a big pool, a spa or a smoke-free casino; MGM Grand and Park MGM are a short walk away.
Location
Yes, New York-New York is on the Strip: 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, at the northwest corner of Tropicana Avenue, on the south Strip. Its neighbors are all within a bridge or a plaza:
- T-Mobile Arena and The Park: MGM puts the arena 0.3 mile and under 5 minutes away on foot; the arena’s own route list says about 3 minutes, out through The Park.
- Park MGM: next door, on the far side of The Park.
- MGM Grand: across Las Vegas Boulevard by pedestrian bridge, with the nearest Monorail station.
- Excalibur: across Tropicana Avenue by the Excalibur Bridge, with the free tram to Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
Neither county bridge is described as enclosed or air-conditioned, so plan on outdoor crossings in summer heat. Our guide to hotels near T-Mobile Arena ranks every option by walk time, and where to stay in Las Vegas compares the south Strip with other areas.
Rooms
New York-New York has 2,024 rooms, per MGM’s 2025 annual report. MGM calls the Soho rooms and most suites “newly remodeled” but doesn’t publish a year. All rooms and suites are smoke-free, with a minimum cleaning fee of $300 in a room or $500 in a suite for smoking (as of October 2026).

Soho or Soho Premier? The Premier adds 100 square feet (450 − 350 = 100), a refrigerator, a desk and a 55-inch TV in both bed types, and its View versions face the Strip. If you’ll spend real time in the room, it’s the upgrade worth pricing.
The FAQ says coffee makers aren’t available in guest rooms, and a fridge is listed only for Soho Premier rooms and the Marquis Suite. Guest reviews commonly mention small rooms with small windows, noise from the coaster and nearby construction, and long check-in lines.
Beds
Standard rooms come with one king (up to three guests) or two queens (up to four), with pillow-top beds. MGM caps every room at four guests, charges $35 plus tax per night for each guest above two, and charges $35 for a rollaway (as of October 2026). A family of five or six needs two rooms or the Two Bedroom Penthouse Suite.
Bathrooms
Standard Soho rooms have a tub: a marble bathroom with a glass-enclosed tub and shower combination. Soho Premier rooms have granite bathrooms. The Spa Suite adds a clover-shaped spa tub, an oversized shower and an oversized vanity; the Marquis and Players suites have a four-person whirlpool tub; and the One Bedroom Luxury Suite has a spa tub, an oversized shower and dual sinks.
Prices vary according to travel dates and availability.
Pool
This is not a pool resort. New York-New York has a single outdoor pool deck with cabanas and rentable lounge chairs, and hotel guests get free seating, first come, first served. Hours change by season; in October 2026 the pool was open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rafts and floaties are allowed; outside food and drinks aren’t.
No adults-only pool is listed. For a bigger pool day, MGM Grand’s 6.5-acre Grand Pool Complex with its lazy river is across the bridge, and MGM opens it to guests of any MGM Resorts hotel. Our list of family hotels in Las Vegas compares the best kid-friendly pools.
Restaurants and bars
MGM’s site listed 21 dining venues in October 2026, including:
- Steak and Italian: Gallagher’s Steakhouse, a classic New York-style dry-aged steakhouse, and Il Fornaio.
- Pub and sports: Nine Fine Irishmen, an Irish pub with live music, and Tom’s Watch Bar, with 360-degree screens for game day.
- Late night: Shake Shack (open until 4 a.m.) and America (24 hours).
- More options: Chin Chin, Gonzalez y Gonzalez, Broadway Burger Bar and Grill, the NYNY Food Hall, Nathan’s, Luke’s Lobster, Top Round and 48th and Crepe.
- For kids and fans: the Hello Kitty Cafe.
Bars include the Bar at Times Square (dueling pianos), Coyote Ugly, The Chocolate Bar, Center Bar, Pour 24 and Midtown Bar.
Casino
The casino covers 84,000 square feet, with more than 50 table games and more than 900 slots, per MGM. The BetMGM Sportsbook sits in a non-smoking area and is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays; MGM’s weekend hours look like a typo, so check on site. No poker room is listed. Smoking is allowed in designated areas of the casino and bars, and guests mention a cigarette smell on the casino floor; if that’s a deal-breaker, Park MGM’s casino next door is smoke-free.
Entertainment and nightlife
The Big Apple Coaster is the signature attraction, and it’s running. MGM’s coaster page listed these details (as of October 2026):
- Hours: daily, 11 a.m. to midnight, weather permitting. The box office is open Thursday to Monday, so buy online on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Prices: $25 a ride, $10 for a re-ride, $18 for Nevada locals, military and first responders, $65 for the all-day Scream Pass with priority line access and $89 for the Play Pack.
- Rules and thrills: riders must be 54 inches tall without shoes; the coaster hits more than 67 mph, drops 203 feet and includes a 180-degree “heartline” twist and dive.
- Resort fee perk: hotel guests get 2-for-1 coaster passes.
Next to the coaster, The Big Apple Arcade has video and classic games, including Skee-Ball and air hockey, and Hershey’s Chocolate World fills a two-story store with a s’mores kiosk.
Mad Apple has closed. The Cirque du Soleil show ended Sept. 5, 2026, after opening May 12, 2022, and no replacement has been announced for its theater. Evenings now mean dueling pianos, Coyote Ugly, live music on the replica Brooklyn Bridge and whatever is on at T-Mobile Arena.
Amenities
- No spa: New York-New York doesn’t have one; its amenities page points to the MGM Grand Spa & Salon across the bridge.
- Fitness center: third floor near the Empire elevators, open daily 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., for guests 18 and older, included in the resort fee.
- Dogs: up to two dogs with a combined weight under 100 pounds, in designated dog-friendly rooms, for $50 per dog per night plus tax in a room or $100 in a suite (as of October 2026). There’s an outdoor dog park; dogs can’t go into restaurants or pool areas.
- Arrival: free bag storage at the Bell Desk; arriving after 11 p.m., check in through the MGM Resorts app.
Good to know
New York-New York has four elevator banks, so ask which one serves your room: Empire (by the front desk and pool entrance), Century (by the front desk and America), New Yorker (by Chin Chin and the Bar at Times Square) and Chrysler (by the Village Street Eateries).
Parking
Parking is paid unless you hold MGM status. Per MGM’s parking page (as of October 2026):
| Who | Self-parking | Valet |
|---|---|---|
| Registered hotel guests | $20 per 24 hours, any day | $40 per day |
| Visitors | $20 Monday–Thursday, $25 Friday–Sunday | $40 per day |
| Nevada residents | First 3 hours free (not during special events) | $40 per day |
| MGM Rewards Pearl and up, MGM Rewards Mastercard | Free | Free for Gold and up |
Prices may be higher during special events. The bigger catch is arena nights: during T-Mobile Arena events, MGM makes the New York-New York garage prepay-only for event parking, so if you’re arriving by car on a concert or game night, ask the hotel how guest parking works that evening. Our Las Vegas parking fees guide compares every Strip garage.
Getting around: transportation
- Monorail: there’s no station at New York-New York; walk across the bridge to MGM Grand’s station.
- Free tram: cross the Excalibur Bridge to ride to Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
- Rideshare and taxis: both use the main entrance. After arena events, the arena sends rideshare pickups here or to Park MGM, so expect a crowd.
- Airport: the taxi flat fare for this zone is $26.25 (as of October 2026), plus $3 if you pay by card.
Resort fee
The resort fee is $45 per night plus tax (as of October 2026), about $51.02 with the 13.38% room tax ($45 × 13.38% = $6.02). Per the hotel’s reservation terms, updated Aug. 26, 2026, it covers in-room Wi-Fi, local, domestic long-distance and toll-free calls, boarding-pass printing, digital newspapers and magazines, 2-for-1 Big Apple Coaster passes and fitness center access for guests 18 and older. MGM Rewards Gold members and above can have it waived on eligible reservations.
That’s the same fee as Excalibur and Luxor and $5 less than MGM Grand and Park MGM ($50 plus tax). If you drive, the fee, tax and guest self-parking come to $71.02 a night before the room rate ($51.02 + $20). Our guide to Las Vegas resort fees lists every Strip hotel’s charge.
Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. You must be 21 to check in, and the incidental deposit is $75 per day, capped at $300 (as of October 2026); it can take 7 to 10 business days to come back, or up to 30 for international banks. Cancel at least 72 hours before arrival to get the first night’s deposit refunded.
Is New York-New York closing?
No. As of October 2026, no closure of the hotel has been announced, and MGM updated its reservation terms on Aug. 26, 2026. The closing in the news was Mad Apple, the Cirque du Soleil show that ended Sept. 5, 2026. The coaster still runs daily, weather permitting.

FAQ
Is New York-New York Las Vegas a good hotel?
Yes, for the right trip. It’s a budget-tier resort next to T-Mobile Arena with The Big Apple Coaster and an arcade, and its $45 resort fee plus tax (as of October 2026) is lower than MGM Grand’s or Park MGM’s. The trade-offs are 350-square-foot standard rooms, no coffee makers, no spa and a single pool deck.
Is the New York-New York roller coaster closed?
No. As of October 2026, MGM lists The Big Apple Coaster as open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight, weather permitting. A ride costs $25, riders must be 54 inches tall, and the box office is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so buy online on those days. Hotel guests get 2-for-1 passes through the resort fee.
Does New York-New York have free parking?

Yes, especially for teens. The coaster (54-inch minimum), the arcade, Hershey’s Chocolate World and the Hello Kitty Cafe are all on site, and no adults-only pool is listed. Rooms max out at four guests, an adult 21 or older must check in, and younger kids may prefer Excalibur’s water slide across the bridge.
Is New York-New York connected to MGM Grand and Excalibur?

It depends on your priorities. Park MGM is closer to T-Mobile Arena (0.2 mile versus 0.3, per MGM) and has a smoke-free casino, while New York-New York has a lower $45 resort fee (as of October 2026), the coaster and an arcade. Pick Park MGM for clean air, New York-New York for value and teens.
