Quick answer
A Las Vegas casino permitting smoking in some public areas does not establish permission to smoke in your room. Read the selected hotel’s room policy, including its treatment of vaping, before booking. Cleaning charges vary by property and accommodation type. If a charge appears, ask the hotel to explain the item and review it against the booking record rather than assuming one citywide rule.
This guide uses official hotel policies checked in October 2026. It explains reservation and account checks; it does not interpret legal rights or promise a particular outcome in a fee dispute.
Separate three different questions
First, is the hotel environment non-smoking? Second, what is the rule in the actual room category? Third, where does the property allow smoking, if anywhere? Those questions can produce different answers within one resort.
A non-smoking room inside a casino resort is not the same setting as an entirely non-gaming hotel. Conversely, the presence of gaming does not establish smoking permission in every public area. Use our non-smoking hotel guide to compare environments before narrowing the room category.
If smoking permission is an essential booking requirement, obtain the property’s current room-specific answer. Do not treat a request field, an old guest review or a balcony photograph as a substitute for the rule attached to your accommodation.

Cleaning charges can differ between rooms and suites
Bellagio’s current FAQ lists minimum smoking-related deep-cleaning charges of $500 for non-smoking rooms and $1,000 for non-smoking suites. These are Bellagio’s published examples as checked in October 2026, not a price schedule for every Las Vegas hotel.
Vdara’s FAQ describes a non-smoking property and a minimum $500 deep-cleaning charge for evidence of smoking in accommodation. Read the current policy for your actual hotel and category instead of transferring another property’s amount.
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Exact property | Rules differ within a hotel group |
| Room versus suite | Published cleaning amounts may differ |
| Current policy date | An old article may quote an earlier amount |
| Minimum charge wording | It may not establish a maximum |
| Category reserved | A general room request may not change the booked product |
Compare costs and rules before payment, especially when choosing between otherwise similar offers. A lower nightly rate is not useful if the room category cannot accommodate an essential preference.

Vaping and other devices need their own policy check
MGM’s general FAQ says devices such as e-cigarettes, vapes and hookahs fall under its non-smoking policy. Do not assume a device is permitted because it is different from a conventional cigarette.
Property rules concerning substances and designated areas can be more specific than a general smoking icon. Follow the hotel’s current written instructions. A legal product being available somewhere in Nevada does not by itself establish permission to use it inside a hotel room.
If you are unsure, ask the desk where the permitted area is and what is allowed there. Do not use another guest’s behavior as evidence of permission, and do not assume opening a window or using a terrace changes the policy.
Check the room promptly on arrival
If the assigned accommodation has an existing odor or condition that concerns you, report it promptly and describe what you observe. Ask the desk to record the issue and explain the available remedy, which may involve assessment, cleaning or a room move.
Keep your account factual. Record when you entered the room and when you contacted staff. Photographs can help document visible conditions, but they cannot establish a smell on their own. Do not describe a photograph as proof of something it cannot show.
Our room-problem guide explains how to request a replacement while preserving essential beds and accessibility features. A room move should solve the reported problem without silently changing the accommodation your party needs.

A card authorization is different from a posted charge
A hotel may place an incidental authorization on the payment card and later issue an itemized account. The presence of an authorization does not by itself establish that the hotel has imposed a smoking charge.
Ask for the actual folio and identify the line item, amount and date. Compare the final account with the payment-card transaction and distinguish pending activity from a settled hotel charge. Our deposit guide covers that separate booking concern.
For any question, give the hotel the reservation reference and relevant dates through its official contact route. Do not send payment-card images or sensitive documents through an unverified message asking to resolve a hotel charge.
How to request an account review
Start with the specific item: “My folio shows this cleaning charge on this date. Please explain the basis and review it with the condition report made at arrival.” Include an existing request reference if you have one.
Retain the room confirmation, published policy, arrival report and final account. If the hotel asks for more information, provide the relevant facts and keep a record of the response. A review request does not guarantee a refund or establish that the hotel has acted incorrectly.
Our checkout-bill guide explains how to identify charges before leaving. For an ongoing room problem, contact staff during the stay rather than waiting until the only remaining issue is a posted account item.
Choose the right hotel environment in advance
Travelers avoiding smoke may prefer a property whose public environment also suits that priority, rather than relying only on a non-smoking room. Travelers needing a permitted smoking category should establish that category directly before reserving.
Compare the full stay, including location, beds and current policy. Do not accept an unsuitable room simply because it appears cheaper, and do not assume a paid upgrade also changes smoking permission. The room’s explicit terms remain the useful reference.
Prices vary according to travel dates and availability.

FAQ
Can I smoke in my room if the casino allows smoking?
Only the actual room policy answers that question. Casino-floor permission does not establish room permission.
Are vaping rules automatically different?
No. Check the hotel policy; MGM specifically includes several vaping devices within its non-smoking rules.
Does disputing a cleaning charge guarantee a refund?
No. Request an explanation and review using accurate records. No outcome is promised here.
