Choose Wynn if you want a North Strip luxury resort with an established restaurant and leisure offering, golf and access to the Venetian side of the Strip. Choose Fontainebleau if its room design, pool complex, nightlife or location near the Convention Center better match your plans. Both deserve a full-price comparison: the less expensive base rate may not represent the same room, cancellation terms or stay experience.

Quick answer

Wynn is the more natural base for a trip combining its own facilities with the Venetian and Palazzo area. Fontainebleau is the more natural base for plans focused on its resort and the Convention Center end of the Strip. Choose the location first, then compare room categories and total prices.

Location: “North Strip” covers different trips

Wynn is farther south than Fontainebleau and is better positioned for combining time at Wynn and Encore with visits to The Venetian and Palazzo. Fontainebleau is closer to the Convention Center side of the northern hotel district.

That difference grows more relevant when you make repeated trips each day. A restaurant reservation at Wynn does not automatically justify staying there, but several dinners and evenings in the same cluster may. A convention schedule with early starts can make Fontainebleau’s location more useful.

For a convention, check the actual hall and entrance. The Convention Center hotel guide explains why a single venue name is not enough to establish the best hotel route.

Rooms: standard accommodation versus upgraded service

Compare the same kind of product at each hotel. Wynn’s resort rooms and Tower Suites are different offerings, and Tower Suites benefits should not be assumed for a standard-room booking. At Fontainebleau, views and suite categories also change the product.

Start with beds, bathroom layout and the space you need. Then decide whether a view or premium-service category is worth the difference. For a trip spent mostly outside the room, a standard category with flexible cancellation can be more useful than a larger non-refundable suite.

If a family is traveling, enter every guest and age. Neither a luxury label nor a large room establishes permission for extra occupants. Read family room limits before treating a sofa as additional sleeping capacity.

Pools and nightlife

Fontainebleau’s pool complex and LIV venues are central parts of its appeal. Wynn and Encore also offer resort pools and nightlife, with access conditions that depend on the venue and accommodation.

Separate the hotel pool from the dayclub. Tickets, minimum ages, reservations and spending requirements can differ. A hotel room does not automatically include unrestricted entry to every entertainment venue shown in promotional photographs.

For winter or a pool-focused stay, check which specific areas will operate during your dates. Use the pool guide to compare seasonal availability, then reconfirm with the hotel before paying.

Dining, spa and golf

Both resorts offer enough dining to support an evening without leaving the property. The relevant question is which restaurants you actually intend to book, their opening days and availability. A long restaurant list is less useful than two confirmed meals that fit your schedule.

Wynn’s on-site golf course is a clear differentiator for a golf trip. Tee times and related costs should be arranged separately. Spa treatments and facility access also need separate confirmation at either resort.

If the main attraction is a particular spa, check whether the treatment includes use of the facilities you want. The spa guide helps distinguish a treatment reservation from a broader spa day.

Parking, fees and value

Both hotels have published guest-parking arrangements, but eligibility and conditions should be checked for the current reservation. Do not apply a visitor parking price to a registered guest, or assume valet follows self-parking rules.

Compare the complete price for the same dates, room occupancy, payment schedule and cancellation deadline. Consider transport too: a cheaper room can lose its advantage if most of your reservations are at the other end of the Strip.

Prices vary according to travel dates and availability. Avoid choosing solely on which property is newer; the hotel that fits the daily itinerary is more likely to justify its price.

Which is better for your trip?

  • Convention visit: compare Fontainebleau’s route with the exact hall and entrance you need.
  • Golf and Wynn dining: Wynn is the straightforward place to start.
  • Nightlife-focused weekend: compare the venues and access terms you will actually use.
  • First visit with many central-Strip plans: compare a more central hotel before choosing either.

If Wynn is your favorite but room size and Sphere access are also priorities, the Venetian vs Wynn comparison is useful next.

FAQ

Is Fontainebleau beside Wynn?

They are separate North Strip properties with other buildings and streets between them. Check the actual route rather than assuming a next-door connection.

Is Wynn Tower Suites the same as a regular Wynn room?

No. Compare the booked accommodation category and listed benefits.

Which hotel is better for the Sphere?

Compare both with The Venetian, which has a direct indoor bridge to Sphere. See the Sphere hotel guide.
