A Las Vegas hotel name change can mean correcting a spelling error, adding a companion or asking to transfer the reservation to a different traveler. Those are different requests, and a hotel or booking provider may approve one while restricting another.

Can you change the name on a hotel booking?

Ask the company that issued the reservation before travel. Explain whether the original guest will still stay and whether the request is a correction, an added guest or a transfer. Obtain an updated confirmation; a note saying “request received” is not proof that the new traveler can check in.

Las Vegas hotel name changes: three different tasks

Start by describing what has changed. A minor misspelling usually raises a different operational question from replacing the named traveler on a restricted promotional booking.

RequestWhat to explain
Correct a nameThe same traveler is arriving with matching identification
Add a companionThe primary guest remains part of the stay
Replace the primary guestAnother person may arrive without the original traveler
Change the payerThe payment card or billing responsibility is changing

The last row is not automatically a name change. Someone else can pay under an approved process while the registered guest remains the same. Our payment authorization guide covers that separate arrangement.

Direct bookings: use the hotel’s official channel

For a direct reservation, contact the hotel’s reservations team or the booking-management channel listed on your confirmation. Provide the reference number and explain exactly what needs updating.

Hilton’s help information describes changing eligible reservations through its website, app or support channels. The available online fields do not establish that every name transfer is permitted, particularly for restricted rates or offers.

Ask whether the change affects the rate, benefits, payment method or cancellation conditions. If a new booking is required, check availability before canceling the original. A canceled room is not guaranteed to return at the same price.

Third-party bookings: involve the issuer

If you booked through Booking.com or another provider, start with that reservation’s management and support process. The hotel may be able to clarify arrival requirements while the provider controls the booking record or payment.

Booking.com’s terms state that changes depend on the conditions of the reservation. Do not assume the provider can transfer a non-transferable or specially priced offer simply because a name field appears editable.

Ask for confirmation from the party making the change and, where necessary, from the hotel that will check the guest in. A mismatch between the provider’s record and the property record is best resolved before arrival.

Our booking-channel guide explains the wider difference between booking through a hotel and through an intermediary.

Adding a companion does not guarantee independent check-in

A second name can help identify another person in the party, but it does not automatically allow that person to check in first, use the original guest’s payment card or retain benefits tied to the original guest’s presence.

Ask the property directly: “The primary guest will arrive later. Can the added guest check in first, and what identification and payment card must they present?” Then request the answer in writing.

If the primary guest will not travel at all, say so. Do not describe a transfer as merely adding a companion. The hotel needs the accurate situation to determine the permitted arrangement.

Promotional and loyalty-linked reservations

An offer may be tied to a particular member, status, discount eligibility or cardholder. Changing the name can affect that entitlement even when an ordinary public rate would allow more flexibility.

The Venetian’s published hotel terms, for example, require the guest coded to an offer to be present under the stated conditions. That is a reason to check the offer itself rather than assuming all rooms can be handed to someone else.

This guide does not promise that loyalty benefits, casino offers or complimentary rooms can be transferred. Ask about the exact rate and retain the written conditions. Never claim eligibility for a discount or benefit that does not apply to the arriving guest.

Payment and check-in requirements remain separate

After an approved name change, confirm whose card guarantees the booking and whose card will cover incidentals. A card charged months earlier may not be sufficient for the new guest’s arrival requirements.

Check the deposit guide and debit-card guide if available funds or card acceptance could be an issue.

The actual arriving guest must also satisfy the hotel’s minimum age and identification requirements. A corrected confirmation does not waive those policies. Our check-in age guide explains why requirements differ by property.

A message that gets a clearer answer

Use a concise request with the relevant facts:

“Reservation [reference] is for [dates]. The current primary guest [will/will not] stay. I need [a spelling correction/an additional guest/a replacement primary guest]. Please confirm whether this is allowed, any price or benefit change, and what the arriving guest must present.”

Do not send full card details in an ordinary message. If payment needs updating, use the hotel’s or provider’s approved process after the name arrangement is understood.

Keep the updated confirmation with the original so you can identify what changed. Check the date, room category, occupancy and cancellation deadline as well as the spelling of the name.

If the change is refused

Compare the permitted alternatives: keeping the original eligible guest, canceling under the rate’s rules or making a new reservation. Do not rely on an informal workaround that leaves the arriving traveler unable to check in.

Our cancellation guide helps assess the cost of replacing a booking. If you need another hotel, use the where-to-stay guide to keep the new location suitable for the trip.

A confirmed replacement is more useful than a cheaper reservation with unresolved ownership and payment conditions. Resolve those details while there is still time to choose another option.

FAQ

Is adding a guest the same as transferring the room?

No. The primary guest may remain responsible and may still need to be present. Ask specifically about independent check-in or replacement.

Can I transfer a casino or loyalty offer?

Do not assume so. Such offers can be tied to a named eligible guest and may require that person’s presence.

Who handles a Booking.com name change?

Start through the reservation’s provider process, then confirm the hotel’s arrival requirements where necessary. Changes depend on the booking terms.

Is a request email enough?

A request alone does not prove approval. Obtain an updated confirmation and a clear answer about who may check in.
